At The Little Lion Foundation, we offer low-cost spay and neuter services for owned cats to help make this essential care more accessible. Spaying and neutering improves a cat’s overall health, reduces the risk of certain cancers and infections, and helps prevent unwanted litters. These services also play a vital role in reducing cat overpopulation, keeping families together, and creating healthier communities for cats and the people who care for them.
Spay or neuter is one of the best things you can do for your cat.
Spaying or neutering your cat is one of the best things you can do — not just for your cat, but for the entire community. Here’s why:
🐾 Health Benefits
Prevents serious diseases: Spaying helps prevent uterine infections and breast tumors, which are malignant in about 90% of cats. Neutering prevents testicular cancer and reduces the risk of prostate problems.
Longer, healthier life: Sterilized cats tend to live longer because they are less likely to roam, fight, or contract contagious diseases spread through mating or fighting.
💕 Behavioral Benefits
Reduces spraying and marking: Neutered males are far less likely to mark territory with strong-smelling urine.
Decreases aggression and roaming: Cats are less likely to fight or wander off looking for mates, which means fewer injuries and accidents.
Calmer companions: Spayed females won’t go into heat, which means no yowling, restlessness, or unwanted attention from males.
🌎 Community Benefits
Stops overpopulation: One unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce thousands of kittens in just a few years. Spaying and neutering directly reduce the number of homeless cats struggling on the streets or entering shelters.
Saves lives: By preventing litters, you help reduce shelter overcrowding and euthanasia rates.
💚 In Short
Spay/neuter is a simple, safe procedure that prevents suffering, improves health and behavior, and helps create a more compassionate community for cats and people alike.
